CAPE TOWN - Over 800,000 Western Cape pupils missed school due to the taxi strike.
And that was just on Tuesday last week.
That's according to Western Cape Education spokesperson, Kerry Mauchline.
"Unfortunately it has been a very difficult week for our schools and our department with so many learners staying home," she said.
"We had over 800,000 learners that stayed home and nearly 18,000 staff members."
Mauchline said pupils need to get back to class and urged parents to send their kids back to school.
