DURBAN - The uMkhonto Wesizwe Party says its victory in the eThekwini ward 110 by-election, shows it can challenge the ANC and the DA In the polls.
This is according to MK party, KZN elections head Bongani Baloyi.
Baloyi has confidently spoken out following the win saying that the Jacob Zuma-led party is the only 'credible alternative that can dethrone the DA and the ANC'.
The MK party snatched the ward from the DA, earning their first seat in the metro.
"This is not an easy defeat to swallow. This is historically a DA run ward. For the first time, the MK party is demonstrating the capacity to take a ward from the DA, which is the first time they face an opponent with that capacity. Not only is the DA under threat, the ANC is under threat," Balyi said.
He vowed that the MK party would take 'everything' in this country in terms of the wards and ensure that they govern. This is to avoid coalitions.
"For them, it's crocodile tears. They must accept it shame, that MK party has taken a ward."
Baloyi speaks amid rising tensions as DA and the ANC have lodged formal complaints with the IEC, over the ward 110 by-election in the eThekwini metro.
They claim there's evidence of irregular and illegal voter registrations.
But the MK party is also not concerned by the formal complaints filed by the two parties.
