PRETORIA - President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe pending a decision from the National Assembly.
The suspension is with immediate effect on condition that Hlophe has completed all of his part-heard court matters.
According to a statement from the Presidency's office, Ramaphosa has gone on the advice of an independent legal expert after receiving a JSC report earlier this year.
The report concluded that Hlophe's conduct breached that of the Constitution by attempting to influence two Constitutional Court Justices dealing with cases involving former President Jacob Zuma.
The JSC has referred the matter to Parliament to institute impeachment proceedings against Hlophe.
