WATCH: Shedding light on Western Cape's health sector

CAPE TOWN - An extra 200 health workers have been welcomed into the Western Cape’s public health fraternity.

It’s thanks to a partnership with the United States.

They will provide improved access to COVID-19 services across the province.

Provincial Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo says the extra help will address more than the resource shortages of health care facilities.

It also prioritises the mental health and wellbeing of staff.

The department says it’s working to get more healthcare centres exempt from power cuts.

Khayelitsha Hospital could be next on the list along with facilities in remote areas outside Cape Town.
