WATCH | SA intern doctors could be without employment: Union

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Medical Association Trade Union says government has once again failed to absorb these newly graduated medical doctors.

Hundreds of young doctors are facing a bleak future.

This is despite the shortage of medical doctors in public healthcare, a major conundrum that has been acknowledged by government and other stakeholders.

The Health Department says it will be in touch with Samatu.

It encourages unemployed medical doctors to continue submitting their details to the department.

The World Health Organization estimates there will be a shortfall of 10 million healthcare workers by 2030, mainly in low and middle-income countries.

South Africa is one of those countries.
