JOHANNESBURG - Acting Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka is taking flack for her report that clears President Cyril Ramaphosa of wrongdoing in the Phala Phala farm theft scandal.

Gcaleka says there’s no evidence Ramaphosa violated the Executive Members Ethics Act and that he hasn’t received extra payment beyond his salary as head of state but opposition parties dismiss her report as a whitewash.

Ramaphosa was accused of a cover-up regarding the burglary and theft of money from his Limpopo farm in 2020.
