PRETORIA - The kidnapping and rescue of a Portuguese businessman in Johannesburg is the latest in a string of similar successes.
Earlier this week a Portuguese Butchery owner was kidnapped in Southgate and later rescued.
And since January last year at least 20 Portuguese butchery owners have been kidnapped, some with their staff.
The Institute for Security Studies says the number of kidnappings for ransom have gone up by more than 260 percent.
Police say 13 business people and at least six students have been rescued without ransom being paid since January.
