WATCH | Mitigating the fire risks in informal settlements

CAPE TOWN - Shack fires are becoming more frequent as the number of informal settlements mushroom across the City of Cape Town.

The city says it’s crucial to mitigate fire risks in informal areas to save lives and property.

To do this, the city – along with a private company – has piloted a project to spray structures in the Overcome Heights Informal Settlement with a protective coating to minimise the spread of fires.
