JOHANNESBURG - Military-type security is needed to deal with construction mafias according to the Democratic Alliance’s Alan Fuchs.

He says the government hasn’t done enough to clamp down on the syndicates extorting construction companies.

Organised crime groups have been targeting construction projects in South Africa for extortion for some time.

Several projects have been delayed as a result of these syndicates as construction companies have been forced to withdraw from projects.
