JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Gwede Mantashe says that Eskom is agitating for the overthrow of the state.
This as businesses and homes are going up to 10 hours a day without electricity as Stage 6 blackouts are implemented.
"Eskom has 48,000 megawatts connected but at best it was 26,000 megawatts and that’s where this gap is," he said.
"If Eskom can attend to that then we will have a solution. Any other government could be overthrown as a result of load-shedding, any government.
"So Eskom by not attending to load-shedding is actively agitating for the overthrow of the state."
