JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority has temporarily closed the Lebombo Port of Entry due to security fears.
Authorities say there are reports of vehicles being torched on the Mozambican side.
According to a statement, the decision was made to ensure the safety of all cross-border transporters, travelers as well as officials at the port of entry.
Seven Mozambican officials have requested refuge on the South African side for safety and protection.
The BMA is watching the situation closely and says it will reopen the port as soon as it is safe to do so.
