JOHANNESBURG - The National Basic Education Department is intervening in the KwaZulu-Natal school nutrition programme saga.
Over 2 million learners have had to attend classes on empty stomachs.
This was after the service provider appointed by the department failed to deliver food.

Political parties in the province have accused MEC Mbali Frazer and her department of appointing a company with political connections to the ANC.
The department says it's concerning that children aren't getting food in the province's schools, and there is a team from the national office dealing with the matter.
