JOHANNESBURG - Former Cope leader Mbhazima Shilowa says the party died a long time ago.

On Wednesday, a Cope media briefing descended into chaos as party members physically assaulted each other.

He said, "It was inevitable that it [Cope] was going to die a natural death. Most people have accepted that it had died and that the two are fighting over a carcass."
