JOHANNESBURG - As South Africans endure crippling blackouts, Eskom has pulled the plug on a small Free State town using solar energy to dodge power cuts.
A court barred private power distributor Rural Maintenance from implementing its own blackout schedules.
The company distributes electricity to Mafube Local Municipality.
Eskom had argued that allowing the company to continue with its schedules would stop the power utility from managing the national grid.
Rural Maintenance is not happy with the court ruling and Eskom.
