JOHANNESBURG - The State is opposing bail for five co-accused in the Thabo Bester prison escape saga.
It argues that this will undermine public confidence in the criminal justice system.
Those closing arguments continue in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
The five are former G4S supervisor Senohe Motsoara, CCTV technician Teboho Lipholo, suspended G4S security guard Mutenyane Masukela, and former G4S control room operators Tieho Makhotsa and Anastassja Jansen.
They're are accused of helping Bester to escape the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May last year.
The defense detailed the personal circumstances of the accused and questioned the strength of the state's case against them.
Their lawyers told the court that they're not flight risks and that they won't be interfering with investigations,or intimidate witnesses.
