JOHANNESBURG - Former President Jacob Zuma's departure from the ANC is a blessing in disguise for the party.

Those are the words of Zuma's predecessor and ANC electoral committee chair, Kgalema Motlanthe.

Speaking on eNCA, Motlanthe says Zuma has essentially expelled himself from the ANC.

He says the party can now earnestly pursue its renewal programme.
