JOHANNESBURG - As the Reserve Bank and some economists warn of possible sanctions over South Africa's non-aligned stance on the war in Ukraine, the ANC's Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says the party's national working committee stands by that approach.
"The NWC reaffirmed the correctness of non-aligned multilateralism and promotion of dialogue as the best means of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine," said Mbalula.
Mbalula says he met with the ambassadors of the United States of America and Russia.

This was in order to reiterate South Africa's position on international relations and reaffirm the principal stance of government and the ANC.
"The NWC welcomes Africa's six-country member delegation's willingness to broker peace and end the acrimony between Ukraine and Russia," said Mbalula.
"This bold and courageous step reaffirms Africa's role in modern diplomacy of peaceful resolution of conflict through dialogue."
