War on crime | More boots on the ground in Gauteng

EKURHULENI - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says lawlessness won't be allowed to spread in the province.

He's dispatched newly recruited crime prevention wardens, who'll soon be patrolling communities day and night.

A parade has been held at Tsakane Stadium in Ekurhuleni to mark the end of their training.

Lesufi says drones and helicopters will be used to strengthen the fight against crime.

He also has a warning for taxi drivers that use violence.

He said, ''we're saying to you crime prevention wardens, you won't do your work alone, we're deploying almost 180 drones that will go and search the place first so we don't release you to heartless criminals, we have six helicopters as a source to direct you as to where those criminals are, all of you will have highest form of technology to press when you need help."

"We're not happy with lawlessness, what happened at Maponya mall with taxi drivers, they must watch out."
