VANDERBIJLPARK- In November, Keneilwe Shalaba claimed her two-year-old son was snatched from her back by a trip travelling in a silver-grey VW Polo.

Investigations later uncovered that they may have sold her son.

Shalaba appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court on Wednesday where she is applying for bail.

The 32-year-old is reportedly pregnant with twins and faces charges under the Prevention and Combating of Trafficking in Persons Act. The court heard that R75,000 was deposited into her account on the day the alleged kidnapping happened.

During the bail application, the court was told that Shalaba admitted to faking the kidnapping. Also, she tried to extort a R40,000 ransom from her son Kutloano's father.

Despite this, her lawyer said that she denies the allegations against her.

Shalaba will be back in court on Friday for the defence to present its closing arguments.
