JOHANNESBURG - US aid cuts have had serious impacts on the HIV and TB research centres which have began receiving cancellation letters.

Experts estimate that the US has been sponsoring 70% of HIV and TB research grants in South Africa.

The Wits University health consortium, which runs clinical trials, stands to lose about 460-million rand in grant funding.
