UPDATE | Soweto substation fire contained

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says the fire that broke out in one of the substations in Soweto has been contained.

The Zola substation caught fire earlier today, leaving many residents without power.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.

Eskom spokesperson, Amanda Qithi, says their technicians will attend to the transformer as soon as it is safe to do so.
