CAPE TOWN - The University of Cape Town has announced that Professor Mosa Moshabela will be the university’s new vice-chancellor.
He’s currently the deputy vice-chancellor for research and innovation at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Moshabela takes over from Professor Dayanand Reddy who has been acting as vice-Chancellor since the departure of Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng in March last year.
An independent panel released a report in November condemning her leadership saying that to conclude that the behaviour of her and the UCT Council Chair amounted to a governance failure would be an understatement.
Professor Mosa Moshabela will take up the post on 1 October and he spoke with eNCA.
