TSHWANE - Tshwane residents and businesses are contributing to the metro's financial woes.
The City of Tshwane is owed over R24-billion by residents and businesses.
This was revealed by Gauteng Finance MEC, Lebogang Maile following his meeting with municipal officials.
Maile says the debt indicates credit control policies are not effective.
Gauteng Finance MEC Lebogang Maile said, "The City of Tshwane's status book, meaning people who owed them, is about R24.3 Billion as of the 30th of September 2024."
"This is an increase from the R22.7 Billion from the preaudited figures of the 2024 financial year. The bulk of the debtors are households followed by commercial businesses."
