JOHANNESBURG - The City of Tshwane still does not have a mayor, and soon it might not have a speaker either.
The multi-party coalition in the city is calling for a motion of no confidence against current speaker Mncedi Ndzwanana for unlawfully adjourning a council meeting.

On Wednesday, Ndzwanana postponed the election of a new mayor to seek legal opinion on the status of a Cope councillor accused of having two ID numbers.
The Freedom Front Plus's Corne Mulder says that despite submitting a petition for the motion to be heard, Ndzwanana has ignored this and instead set a new date for the election of a mayor.
Mulder says this is illegal and will be challenged in court if need be.

"We want good cooperation with the MEC and I don't want the MEC or the province to try and intervene or try to put the city under administration, but it's essential that we bring to their attention our frustration in terms of what is happening at the moment," Mulder said.
"But the next step is the municipal manager will receive a legal letter. We hope that he will play the role that is expected of him in terms of the law. If he does not do so then we approach the court. We've got no alternative."
