Tshwane council | Special meeting postponed

PRETORIA - Tshwane Mayor Randall Williams' resignation has left much confusion in the country's capital.

A special meeting of the Tshwane metro council scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled hours before it was due to start.

The City of Tshwane Speaker says there has been some confusion about the recent resignation of the mayor.

A damning Attorney-General report that found that Tshwane did not perform well in the 2021/2022 financial year has caused heads to roll in the Metro.

Some parties in the multi-party coalition formation say, despite the mayor's resignation, there must still be accountability following the AG's report.

The Speaker is shortly expected to announce a date when the council can elect a new mayor.
