TSHWANE - The Congress of the People (Cope) has rubbished claims by the Democratic Alliance that it ditched the multi-party coalition for its own gain.
While addressing the media on Wednesday, newly-elected mayor and Congress of the People member Murunwa Makwarela says his party didn’t betray the coalition government.
Makwarela says he's in a race against time to ensure service delivery is prioritised in the metro.

He is under pressure to appoint a new mayoral team that will streamline the city’s budget to support service delivery.
A special council sitting to elect a speaker is expected to convene on Friday.
