Tshwane council | ActionSA comments after Moya elected mayor

TSHWANE - The City of Tshwane has a new mayor.

Nasiphi Moya has been elected mayor of Tshwane after a motion of no confidence against Cilliers Brink last month led to his ousting.

Action SA leader Herman Mashaba says Moya is the best candidate to take the City of Tshwane forward.

Mashaba said, "We're really glad with the engagements we've had with the ANC, from national, provincial, and the structures here in Tshwane." 

"For the last two months we have had disturbances driven by outside forces but here we are today and we have managed to overcome that and last night, we all, unanimously agreed to nominate Dr Nasiphi Moya as our executive mayor after this council meeting." 

"The engagements from the beginning were not that hard."

"What was coming out was the propaganda that tried to disrupt negotiations."

"I think from the beginning, the ANC was amenable to really having this discussion but they wanted to be given a chance to really look at their own structures which is only fair and also engage other political parties. And last night we eventually agreed that this is the best route and Dr. Moya, without any doubt, she the best candidate to take this city forward."
