PIETERMARITZBURG - The late former Education Minster Professor Sibusiso Bengu has been described as a humble and true gentleman who was a committed champion of transformation.
Tributes continue to pour in for South Africa's first democratic education minister.
The former minister also served as South Africa's ambassador to Germany.
He passed away on Tuesday at the age of 90.
Reflecting on his life and times, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Blade Nzimande said Bengu played a seminal role the country’s education sector and helped to lead in a single, coordinated, non-racial, non-sexist education system.
