JOHANNESBURG - Condolences are streaming in for former Constitutional Court judge Yvonne Mokgoro.
She died at the age of 73 after suffering multiple injuries in a serious car crash near Kimberley in April last year.
Several setbacks in her recovery forced her to step away from public engagements.
Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says her death is a monumental loss to the legal profession.
Mokgoro was South Africa’s first black female justice on the Apex Court, serving from 1994 to 2009.
She’s been hailed as a defender of justice, human dignity and the Constitution.
