CAPE TOWN - Transport Minister, Sindisiwe Chikunga has condemned the Western Cape government's actions against taxis, calling the impounding of vehicles unlawful.
Taxi association Santaco has pulled its vehicles from roads, leading to mayhem and violence.
Talks between the City of Cape Town and the taxi industry have proved fruitless, and commuters and businesses are paying the price.

Chikunga wants an end to the strike.
Meanwhile, the ANC and its alliance partners in the Western Cape are calling for decisive action to resolve the crippling taxi stayaway.
