CAPE TOWN - Cape Town-based religious leaders have highlighted the need for a more diversified transport system.
Church leaders gathered at Saint George’s Cathedral to pray for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing taxi strike that has left thousands of commuters stranded over the past week.
The “interfaith service for peace” was convened by Cape Crisis, an informal association of faith-based organisations and institutions, trade unions and civil society representatives.
The gathering comes after a week of violent protests in the metro, which claimed the lives of at least five people and saw large-scale destruction playing out.
