HIBBERDENE - A suspected Eastern Cape cash-in-transit heist mastermind has been killed in a shootout with KwaZulu-Natal police.
Police say he'd been on the run, evading authorities.
He was located at a housing complex in Hibberdene on the South Coast on Friday.
The suspect reportedly opened fire on police and private security officials.
They returned fired and he was killed.
A firearm has been recovered at the scene.
