NORTH WEST - The Stilfontein mine rescue team is expected to conduct a final sweep underground today, to determine if there are any more illegal miners remaining underground.
The final phase of the operation to bring the miners to the surface began on Monday.
Two-hunderd and fourty-six illegal miners have been rescued, and 78 bodies of those who died underground have been retrieved.
North West acting provincial commissioner Patrick Asaneng outlined the progress of the operation.
