State opposes bail for cop accused of insurance murders

POLOKWANE - The court case of 43-year old Rachel Shokane-Kutumela has been postponed to 18 October.

The female police officer appeared in the Polokwane court on Friday morning.

She has been charged with 19 counts, including murder, fraud and defeating the ends of justice.

Kutumela was arrested for allegedly killing six people for insurance payouts.

She is accused of listing herself as a beneficiary and claiming over R10-million since 2019.

The State says it will oppose bail.
