BLUE DOWNS, WC - A 35-year-old police officer has appeared in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court charged with rape and attempted sexual assault.
The NPA says more charges are likely to be added against the officer based at the Mfuleni Police Station.
The state intends to oppose his application for bail due to the seriousness of the offences.
eNCA reporter, Ayesha Ismail reported that in the 2023/24 year, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate registered over 5000 complaints of offences by police officers nationally.
