JOHANNESBURG - Stage Five blackouts will continue until Thursday.
Eskom says they may then be reduced to Stage Four.
WATCH: Eskom's power purchase plans
The beleaguered utility says generating units at four power stations were taken offline for repairs.
Seven units have returned to service at various power stations.
But the power supplier says it's necessary to continue stage 5 in order to limit the use of emergency reserves.
Eskom has been struggling to keep the lights on and implemented crippling stage 6 power cuts over the weekend.
