JOHANNESBURG - Rolling blackouts won't be avoided this week.
Eskom says a delay in the return of generating units at three different power stations has led to generation capacity shortages.
The utility will now implement Stage 1 power cuts from 5am to 4pm and Stage 2 blackouts from 4pm until 5am daily.
Close to 4,00 megawatts has been lost to planned maintenance, with over 14,000 megawatts unavailable due to breakdowns.
Eskom says it will update the public as soon as there are changes.
