Soweto to receive new electricity transformers

JOHANNESBURG - A spark of hope as Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi promises electricity to residents of Soweto.

Lesufi says some areas in Soweto have been have been malfunctioning transformers for some time.

This had led to residents sitting in the dark for days more frequently.

Power utility Eskom and the province are carrying out a transformer replacement programme launched last month.

Lesufi says they are willing to assist Eskom with providing electricity to the people.
