CAPE TOWN - Cape Town motorists are urged to stay away from the city centre as many roads will be closed.
That's because of the President's State of the Nation Address on Thursday evening.
Maxine Bezuidenhout from the city's traffic service said parking restrictions have been in place since midnight.
"You have Roland Street closed up until Plein Street as well as all the interleading roads in and around the precinct of City Hall," Bezuidenhout said. "That will be closed up until 8pm Thursday night.
"Then we have two hard road closures from around 5.45pm to 8pm. The M3 in Newlands (Princess Ann Avenue) will be closed as well as the N2 incoming at Main Road Mowbray."
Bezuidenhout warned motorists going to the airport to use alternative routes.
