Smoke alarm delays Mashatile's Q&A session in Parly

JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Paul Mashatile delivered his maiden Question and Answer in Parliament on Thursday but those expecting a fiery debate had to settle for a fiery delay.

The proceedings were delayed by almost an hour after smoke from what is believed to be an electrical fault set off fire alarms.

Once Mashatile took the podium, he faced questions from Members of Parliament on a variety of issues from the ongoing electricity crisis to President Cyril Ramaphosa's role in the Phala Phala farm scandal.

He pleaded with MPs to let investigations run their course.
