Six people die in Hammanskraal due to gastrointestinal infection

JOHANNESBURG - Six people have died of gastrointestinalinfection in Hammanskraal, north or Pretoria.

In addition, the Health Department is warning the public of the outbreak of the diarrhoeal disease.

Cases of cholera are also on the increase.

Four more cases were confirmed in Gauteng and seven in Vredefort and Parys in the Free State.

The provincial and district outbreak teams in both provinces are in the areas to investigate.

The department is urging the public to take extra precautionary measures and maintain proper hand-hygiene.
