SIU yet to receive De Ruyter private report

JOHANNESBURG - The Special Investigating Unit says it’s yet to receive the report commissioned by former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter.

De Ruyter commissioned a private investigation into alleged corruption at the power utility.

SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says the unit wants to probe whether De Ruyter contravened any legislation or policy by setting up a private investigation.

"We are looking for this report. But we have found out who are the people who created this report. We will ask for it and if they can’t give us then we will subpoena them," he said.

"We want to understand the circumstances behind creating this report, we want to know who funded it.

"We want to understand whether it was done on behalf of Eskom and if yes, we want to understand why it is not with Eskom board or management."
