Several Tshwane reservoirs critically low due to thunderstorms, power failures

PRETORIA - Several reservoirs in Tshwane are running critically low on water.

This follows disruptions at Rand Water's Zuikerbosch Treatment Plant due to severe thunderstorms and power failures.

The plant supplies Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, and Johannesburg, which have also been affected.

Tshwane says it's been losing 200m litres of water daily.

The metro is urging residents to use water sparingly to avoid a complete system collapse.

Meanwhile, Johannesburg Water says it has provided alternative supply to affected residents, as it's also facing critically low levels.
