Several KZN beaches reopened

DURBAN - The eThekwini Municipality has reopened 14 beaches following improved water quality standards.

Among those reopened are uShaka, Addington, Amanzimtoti and the Bay of Plenty.

Several beached were closed due to high levels of E. coli.

Some opposition political parties also threatened to take the eThekwini Municipality due to unkempt beaches.

There have been reports of untreated sewage flowing into rivers and contaminating beaches.

Seven beaches remain closed.
