Section of N1 in Bloemfontein closed

BLOEMFONTEIN - Bloemfontein residents are being urged to avoid the N1 between the Nelson Mandela offramp and Church Street after a petrol tanker exploded there last night.

The tanker burst into flame after tipping onto its side and the blaze has not yet been extinguished.

The highway is closed in both directions.

Authorities are on the scene and are urging people to avoid the area completely as the fire is much worse than it seems.
