DURBAN - Communities are now stepping in to help feed school pupils.
It follows the recent distribution failure in the KwaZulu-Natal school nutrition programme.
Over two million pupils in the province rely on the feeding scheme for their one meal a day.
The KwaZulu-Natal government is promising that all children relying on its school feeding scheme will be fed this week.
This comes after a bungle between the Education Department and service provider Pacina Retail resulted in thousands of pupils not receiving food this term.
Although Pacina Retail is being blamed, there was also insufficient oversight from government.

To this end, an investigation is under way to find out who should be held accountable.
A final, revised feeding scheme plan is expected within the next three months.
