SA's Water Crisis | Water bills set to soar with proposed tariff hikes

PRETORIA - The Water and Sanitation Department is proposing significant increases to raw water use charges for the upcoming financial year. 

These changes could have far-reaching implications for both businesses and consumers.

The proposed charges for domestic and industrial sector ranges from 0% to a 5-point-91-percent increase. 

A national consultation on the proposals will take place later this month – on August 28. Thereafter, it will go to Minister Pemmy Majodina for her approval.

Mukhetwa Lidzhade, Director of Raw Water Pricing Regulation at the department spoke to eNCA.
