CAPE TOWN - The Khayelitsha Development Forum says pupils are often transported in recklessly driven unsafe vehicles.
This follows the horror accident this week where five children were killed in Mitchells Plain.
The 55-year-old driver of the vehicle will appear in court today.
He faces charges of culpable homicide for the deaths of the children aged between 7 and 11.
The forum plans to hold an urgent meeting with the Western Cape Scholar Transport Association.
"The immediate action that the KDF executive committee has decided to take, is to urgently convene a meeting with what is known as the Western Cape scholar transport on Friday," said the forum's chairperson Ndithini Tyhido.
"We want to talk to them anyway about the conduciveness of most of these transports because they vary from bakkies to small vehicles and some of them are blasting music and driving at a high speed with kids.
"We really want to pass our condolences to the families though.”
