JOHANNESBURG - Rolling blackouts are having a detrimental effect on mental health.
According to a survey by the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), power cuts are increasing anxiety and depression levels in the country.
Clinical psychologist, Portia Monnapula-Mazabane says more and more people are feeling hopeless, frustrated, and less secure and that they're not in control.
"You find that with these power cuts comes the disruption of the stability. You know for us as human beings to be functional, we have to have mastery over our day-to-day functioning," she said.
