JOHANNESBURG - Cable theft is a major problem for the Polokwane municipality.
Mayor Makoro John Mpe say it's affecting the economy, business and the community at large.

He says thus far nearly R10-million has been spent on repairs and replacement of cables.
"We’ve got quite a serious problem of cable theft that affects both businesses and our residents," the mayor said.
"On a daily basis, our law enforcement agencies get reports of cable theft.
"I terms of repairs this financial year alone, we’ve spent approximately R9.8-million for replacement of cables."
